In 2015, Dr. LeSar founded the Vascular Institute of Chattanooga, a Regional Amputation Prevention Center, and he brings his intricate knowledge of advanced techniques for the treatment of carotid, mesenteric, renal, venous, and peripheral vascular disease to the center. He has a special interest in caring for patients with critical limb ischemia and the prevention of unnecessary amputations.
With decades of experience caring for patients from across the U.S., Dr. LeSar is recognized for his expertise in complex vascular disease and his leadership in advancing limb-saving, minimally invasive treatments.
Dr. LeSar specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD), aortic and peripheral aneurysms, carotid artery disease, and critical limb ischemia, with a strong focus on amputation prevention. He is known for managing advanced and high-risk cases and for offering treatment options not widely available nationally.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. LeSar is a respected leader in vascular medicine, helping build VIC into a regional center of excellence for both arterial and venous care. He is deeply committed to early diagnosis, collaboration with referring providers, and patient education.
Dr. LeSar received his medical degree and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and his vascular fellowship training at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is an assistant professor of surgery at Lincoln Memorial University, a founding member of the Outpatient Endovascular Interventional Society (OEIS), and a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) and the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery (SCVS). The Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society (OEIS) is a national nonprofit medical society dedicated to promoting the safety, quality, and efficacy of office-based interventional suites (OBLs) and outpatient vascular care. The Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) is a medical organization representing vascular surgeons worldwide. The Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery (SCVS) is a national organization focused on advancing the art and science of vascular surgery.
